About the role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in driving the development of high-quality technology solutions in the financial services domain. In this role, you will leverage modern development frameworks and architecture to build secure, scalable systems that support payment platforms, drive and enhance system integrations, and support cloud migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to modernization initiatives, real-time payment systems and high throughput transactional workloads
- Design and build solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing systems
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, product managers, and operations teams, to deliver end-to-end software solutions for payment, banking platforms and cloud migration projects
- Apply observability practices using structured logs, metrics, traces and distributed monitoring tools
- Write clear, maintainable, and well-documented code, ensuring best practices such as code reviews, unit testing and TDD are followed throughout the development process
- Advocate and apply a security-first approach to all coding and design activities, to ensure that applications are free of common coding vulnerabilities by following standard security practices
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to architecture decisions
Required Expertise
- 10+ years of proven experience in designing and delivering financial technology solutions, preferably within the banking sector
- Experience working with and building microservices, API platforms (e.g. Kong), API gateways, streaming platforms (e.g. Kafka) and cloud native architectures
- Demonstrated ability to design, deploy and operate applications in a cloud-native or cloud-migration environment (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases with the ability to optimise database interactions
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, containerization and automated testing
- Understanding of cloud cost optimization, resiliency, autoscaling and service mesh patterns
- Demonstrated ability to work in an Agile environment
Preferred Expertise
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Previous experience with payments processing platforms, real-time transactions, or banking/fintech environments
- Understanding of advanced architectural patterns.
- Experience with ISO20022, Interac, RTR, EFT, wire payments and real-time settlements
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE Developer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, or AWS Certified Developer, GCP, are an asset
Stack Specific Expertise
- Java: Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, JPA/ Hibernate, Kafka Integration, JVM tuning
- .NET: ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, LINQ, Azure-native services, C# API development
- Golang: goroutines, channels, concurrency models, REST/gRPC service development
- API Gateway: Kong, APIM, Apigee, configuration including plugins, routing and security flows
